The „Little One“ for the giant – COBUS 2700-S as crew bus for the A380
Emirates Airline, located in Dubai, received its first flying giant, the A380, mid of 2008. The second one followed at the end of the year. This resulted in the logistical challenge to transport 32 crew members with their luggage to and from the airplane in only one bus.
For safety reasons the luggage cannot be carried by the crew after check-in at the crew terminal. It must be transported in a separate compartment in the crew bus. Additionally, the extremely narrow space in the terminal area requires a vehicle with small dimensions and smallest possible turning radius. The solution was found with the COBUS 2700-S, which not only fulfills the above-mentioned requirements, but also offers enough space for 32 crew members with their cabin luggage and 32 suitcases placed in a separate compartment of the bus.
Two of the COBUS 2700-S, the world market leader in low-floor buses, have successfully been in operation since summer 2008.
